The Lion on a Leash

”Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.“

‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

That line  when it is “Full Grown” hit me..

I once heard a sermon entitled the lion on a leash.. to summarize

It is a story of a guy who got a lion when it was just a cub.. it was cute and playful.. he kept it.. it grew.. and one day mauled and ate the man.

So it is with sin..  (or OUR PROBLEM) it seems harmless at first like we can control it.. oh but how quickly it can become like a roaring lion and devour us.

I think back to the first time I saw pornography, and began my career with sexual compulsion. At first it seemed like fun, thrilling, and exciting, but oh how quickly it grew and became an addiction.

I cannot play with sin, sin will ultimately kill me.

I cannot control sin, it will ultimately kill me.

I can’t keep my sin hidden, it will ultimately kill me.

Take what you liked and leave the rest.
